Overseeding existing lawns

Lawns are made up of thousands of grass plants and like all plants grow old and tired.  Rather than completely replacing the lawn it is highly efficient to occasionally sow some new seed into the existing lawn.  This helps to thicken up the lawn and keep it vigorous and healthy.

Also whenever cultural treatments such as scarifying or aeration are carried out this is the ideal time to overseed.  Autumn and spring are the best times as rain is more likely which will help the new plants to get establishes before hot weather or winter arrives.  We always overseed as part of these services and will usually apply a pre-germination fertiliser to help the new growth get established.
