Mrs Lewis

Mannamead, Plymouth

We use Greenheart all year round and have done for several years now.  They are very reliable, informing us when they are coming and keeping us informed on progress and the treatments they are doing.  They give us tips on things like cutting and watering. We are very happy with our lawn.

Mrs James

Plymstock, Plymouth

We love our garden.  My husband has always taken care of the lawn and I was surprised when he booked  to go on one of Greenheart Lawn cares annual treatment programmes. He likes the regular treatments and the partnership approach working with them.  Anyway the lawn is definitely better than ever.

Mrs Dawson

Highweek, Newton Abbot

Greenheart are very thorough.  After they scarified and aerated our lawn they took about 15 dumpy bags of green waste away with them when they had finished.  It sounds an exaggeration but the improvement was unbelievable.  Now they visit 5 times a year to treat the lawn ands keep it in good condition.  Brilliant.

Mr & Mrs Rundle

Our lawn is quite large and we are both busy people so having experts coming in regularly to keep the lawn in great condition is just something else we don't have to do.  The family use the lawn a lot especially in the summer and we love how it looks now.

Mr Banks

Dawlish

My lawn's tiny but the garden is very important to me.  Greenheart always ring to say when they are visiting and I don't know how they do it but the treatments always work so well.  I usually have a chat with Graham, my lawn technician and he gives me a couple of tips about cutting the lawn properly.

Mr Davidson

Topsham, Nr Exeter

I have been a GreenHeart customer for 4 years.  I gave up trying to do this on my own as we used to have a lot of moss in the lawn.  They treated, aerated and scarified it and we have been on an annual programme of treatments ever since then.  My Greenheart Lawn technician Graham is very helpful.

Mr Russell

Shaldon, Nr Teignmouth

We had a free lawn health check done by Greenheart and it was interesting to get a bespoke cost-effective approach to lawncare treatments set out for us.  We honestly though it would be so much more expensive so we made a decision to go ahead and have not looked back.  Our whole garden looks so much better when the lawn looks good.

Mr Hunt

Kingsbridge, South Hams

After Greenheart scarified and over-seeded our lawn it was like a new lawn.  The treatments are very successful.  I talked to them about the fertilizer programme and they have put a lot of thought and care into getting it right.  I wanted to avoid herbicides as far as possible.  Very pleased.

Mr & Mrs Curry

To start with we were only looking to get rid of the weeds min the lawn but after being on the annual programme the whole lawn looks so much better.  It's thicker and a lovely colour and Greenheart always help us sort out any problems with the lawn.  This year they aerated and overseeded the lawn as well.  The quality is very good - they know what they are doing when it comes to lawns

Mrs Wills

Near Brixham

I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my lawn.  I have to admit I've always been pleased with Greenheart Lawn Care.  Whenever I have pointed out something I'm not happy about they have done their best to improve it or address it.  I use quite a lot of their premium treatments in the summer and I trust the advice they give me.

Spring 2024

New Lawn Creation – 500 Sq m

Mr & Mrs Cornford, Ugborough
Our brief, convert an ancient disused walled area fallen into disrepair into a lovely lawn.

Stage 1. Lawn health check. We visited and discussed the best options with the customer and agreed the exact price, expected timescales and expected completion. We agreed the plan and put it in writing. The following is the execution of that plan.

Stage 2. We sprayed all the existing vegetation to kill it and left it to turn completely brown and die.

Stage 3. 6 tonnes of graded topsoil delivered to property

Stage 4. Preparation. A mix of repeated passes with a heavy duty industrial scarifier and rotavator and removal of all green waste. De-stoning the area and leveling bumps and dips with the graded top soil, raking and heeling the area and re-raking as required until completely happy with the levels

Stage 5. Top-dressing. Supply and apply a specialist soil top-dressing, in this case high in organic matter, to cover thinly over the whole area.

Stage 6. Apply specialist high quality professional amenity lawn seed, rake in and lightly compact with a small roller.

Stage 7. Apply an appropriate pre-germination fertiliser to aid emergence and establishment of small seedlings

Stage 8. Cover entire area with a germination sheet to conserve moisture, warmth and speed up germination

Stage 9. Check progress - remove germination sheet two weeks later.

Stage 10. Post lawn establishment visits and checks, reseeding any areas required and do the first cut.

Spring 2023

Tired lawn improvement 1400 Sq m

Our brief – The customers had been living abroad and wanted to improve a thin, old mossy, and weedy lawn which had deteriorated in their absence.

Stage 1. Lawn health check. We visited the lawn to discuss the best options and costs with the customer. We took several soil profile cores throughout the garden to show the customer and help explain the plan. We agreed to proceed with our Essential Plus+ Annual lawn treatment programme with the extra addition of scarification. The customer did not want to top dress the lawn at this stage. This lawn had a lot of deep thatch which would continue to hold the lawn back from its full potential – hence the need for scarification.

Stage 2. First spring treatments – March 23. We applied moss control, weed control and fertiliser to the lawns. The moss control reduced the bulkiness of the living moss prior to scarification and kelp the volume of green waste lower. Weed control began the process of reducing the population of weeds actively growing and fertiliser application began to increase the level of nutrients in the soil profile.

Stage 3. Heavy scarification. In places we scarified 6-7 times to remove all the thatch from the lawn before removing all the waste from site.

Stage 4. Aeration and overseeding. We fracture tine aerated the lawn with two passes and then overseeded with high quality amenity lawn seed.

Stage 5. We continued with the next 4 seasonal lawn treatment visits to provide appropriate nutrition to the lawn, spot treat new weeds and retreat moss where all the spores were not controlled by the scarification and thatch removal operation.

The results. The lawn took 2-3 months to recover from spring scarification. Scarification is a case of a bit of pain for maximum gain and seems to be two steps backwards but then 4 steps forwards. However, the end result is excellent and the customer is very happy.
